Located in a 3 acre site with beautiful views overlooking the ocean and mavericks waves, the brief was to design a house of 3000 - 5000 sqft that not only ‘blended’ with the environment and the landscape but also allowed for uninterrupted views out. The residence is composed of a large open living room with a quiet alcove nook, a sunken office, open kitchen and dining area, an arcade for entertaining, master bedroom, 3 guest bedrooms and a glass greenhouse adjacent to the kitchen. The main living areas are designed under a sculptural concrete roof that opens up to the landscape while the more private areas for guests are located in a volume that is excavated into the ground. The layout of the spaces creates a protected courtyard where a pool is located and sheltered from wind and fog.
